A follow up to my earlier post, for those interested.

After 2 unhelpful service calls from software technicians, a Bell South line technician finally admitted that the rain/no DSL service situation is an ongoing network problem, and BellSouth will be unable to guarantee DSL service during rain events. I have since cancelled my ATT/BellSouth DSL service.
