In my area there is only dsl. I'm happy with the service, it's always up. The speed leaves something to be desired though.
Thirty miles away (in the big city) my family all have the Road Runner/AOL package. They complain about it being down a lot. And the hold time for support is usually long.
So, if cable ever does make it out to my neck of the woods, I'll have to think hard about changing. I'm thinking a slower connection all the time is better that a faster one sometimes.
