I've moved into a really old house that belonged to my grandparents. I've already asked a question in the DSL forum, but I'll ask some questions here too. If I don't get some internet service at home soon, I'll go insane. Which do you think would be easiest to get in my circumstance, cable or DSL?
My grandparents weren't into technology. The house still has the old rotary phone (it still works, so I'm just going to go with that for awhile until I save up some cash for upgrades), and my grandparents never had cable. In fact, they watched very little TV. They had this old TV, that still works perfectly, but I'm just wondering if cable will connect to it. Also.... since there has never been cable in the house, is it going to cost a lot more for installation that it would have cost if my grandparents had ever had cable here? It depends on what your finances are. I suggest that if you have the extra money, use it.

For some reason all I can think of is the "Amish Paradise" song by Weird Al... hehehe
Anyway, DSL is going to be your best bet, least money, least installation, and you won't have to upgrade TVs or subject yourself or your grandparents to the endless idiocy that is reality TV

"Amish Paradise" is a good song.
Do you plan on watching Cable TV inside the house? If so I would go with Cable. If you have the extra money, spend it. |

Definitely cable. I don't see how you can live without TV or Internet!!

If I had the extra money, I wouldn't be asking if the old stuff would work. I'd love to upgrade the phones, buy a new tv, get cable, yada yada yada... anybody wanna float me a loan? I guess I'll call around and see what will work. Thanks for the help everyone.
