Default How important is internet service to you?

Is your internet service purely for your entertainment, or just because you're addicted? Or do you actually use it for work? How important is the internet in your life? Is a near tragedy when you experience an outage?

I only use it for fun, and to find good deals online, but I'll admit to being addicted. I get pouty when I don't have an internet connection.

Same here... Hard times when my internet connection is down.

Also I use internet as part as my job, or for programming stuff, web designing and what ever I need it for it.

A part of my time spent on internet is with my friends from whole over the world. It's seems like is easy to communicate trough internet, than sending snail mails, or making call phones(which sometimes cost a lot.)

I agree internet makes you some time addicted, but you have to know where to stop. ahaha

Both

Or do you actually use it for work?
Yes, that too, but I am still addicted to news, I am always looking up new things.

How important is the internet in your life?
More than most. I don't communicate with my ex unless I have to, and if the phone does not work for whatever reason (he has a cell) I can always get ahold of him via email/IM/IRC as a backup. Also, since I work from home, that is important as well. And do I even need to mention online banking?

Is a near tragedy when you experience an outage?
The only time my computer goes down is for a reboot (maybe once a month), or the power goes out. In Dec 04 we had a huge power outage for a week, also no heat. I was feening for my machine to be back up and running. Good thing husband had a Samsung that the net stayed connected to, otherwise we would have been screwed for weather updates and the such.

I use my internet connection for many things:

gaming, research, internet radio, and yes also work. And yes, having no internet would definitely make a major impact on my life. A tragedy? to some extent, and it'd definitely make life tougher.

Very well said!!! I am also that bad. Except I don't use it for work (except the little bit from adsense I made a whole $6.59 for july!!!!), but that would be awesome. However, I know the difference between enjoying doing something, and doing it for a job. You could get burntout very easy.

I use my internet like my second pet. I spend a lot of time online and it's not always for entertainment. The things I get to learn assists me not just in my offline life ,but in knowing what's new online as well.I too use adsense ,adwords ,google analytics and several other products from google.I frequent some online forums that provide encyclopedic knowledge on their niche.I use net to download ringtones, songs, softwares.I try to keep myself updated on what's new in the blogosphere and once all that is done ,I visit the community sites that makes it so easy to make friends from around the world.I am not sure if I could be categorized as an internet addict , but if I can't login for more than a day ,then it can give me sleepless nights, lol.

I just play around on the computer a good deal, unless its regarding updates on my family/friends that do not have long distance (to call) I would say I don't really need it *that much*.

I live on the Internet. I can't imagine being without it on a permanent basis.

I have gone without it, when I had no choice. I didn't die, go crazy and kill my kids or anything like that, so I guess I'm not dangerously addicted to it. But I know that since I got DSL, it has become more a part of my life than I expected.

I work on the Internet, I play there, learn there, socialize and shop there. Basically, if I can do it on the Internet, I do.
