I know someone who runs a website, a pretty big website in fact. And his only internet connection is through dialup. He lives in an extremely rural area where cable and dsl are not yet available. I'm surprised he at least has a phone. I can't imagine trying to run a website with only dial-up. There's too much involved, too many things that need to be downloaded, etc. Yet he manages. Which made me think of this question... if you moved to an area where broadband was not available, would you go back to dial-up, or would you rather just give up the internet all together? I think I'd go back to dial-up, but I wouldn't like it very much. You'd probably find me in town a lot at an internet cafe or at the library or something using their high-speed connection. Assuming town wasn't too far away.

Hopefully I'll never have to move out in the middle of nowhere. I really don't understand why people do that anyway, but more power to them. But, if I ever have a temporary moment of insanity and decide to go live among the woodland creatures, I'd probably have to go back to dial-up. Otherwise all that solitude would affect my brain and have me talking to a piece of wood like it was my blackberry (for anyone who didn't see last season's Suvivor, that won't make any sense... Suvivor fans should get it though).

I haven't yet left dialup, so that would be a tough question. Since using cable at my friend's house has made me decide to make the change, I imagine that once I have a really good connection I'm not going to want to go back. But, I've had dialup for so long, I know I'd be able to do it if I had no other choice.

If I had no other choice, I suppose I would go back to dial-up. But I think first I would try to find out if an aircard would work where I was and go ahead and shell out the big $$ for one. :-) Dial-up would probably sned me straight to the looney bin now, because I have had high-speed for so long.

I would check out satelitte first, see if it was worth it, then choose between that and dial up.
My grandparents use dial up, and they manage to send pictures through email still. |

I was on it for awhile, but if i moved to an area wher eit was only available, i'd get it.
I mean, it's hard to give up the internet. We're all slaves

I'm sure for the first few days we'd all be disallusioned sans internet, but we'd get used to it. I'd probably get the dial up. And complain on everysingle forum I go to about
