My cousin has dsl. Now she's decided that since she uses her cellphone for everything she doesn't need her phone. So she's gonna have it shut off. I told her I didn't think she could do that because she has dsl through her phone line. Is that right? Does she have to keep her phone?

She can should be able to. DSL uses the phone line, but doesn't use the phone service. In a thread I saw on here, it mentioned that they use different frequencies, so it should work without the phone service.
Call the DSL company and ask though. |

If you get both of them from the same company, they may shut both off, especially if one gets shut off cause you can't pay for it, not because you canceled it.

Don't quote me on this but, I believe that you are required to have an active phone serive in order to have DSL.

As long as you don't physically have the phone line removed from your home I don't believe you actually have to pay for phone service in order to have DSL. It just runs through the same line, I don't think it has anything to do with your phone service.
