I think the more rural the area is where you live, the more likely you are to lose phone service due to weather. Our power usually goes out, but our phone doesn't. Unfortunately the majority of the phones in this house are cordless, and those need electricity in order to work. We have one corded phone hanging on the wall in the kitchen. But of course, we have our trusty, dependable cell phones in case there is ever a problem.
