Cable. I have a friend that does nothing but complain about his DSL service. I keep telling him that it'd be worth a little bit more to not have to be so angry all the time. But he's a tightwad, so he continues to be stubborn and complain all the time.

I prefer cable. There really isn't much of a choice there. Cable is just so much better. It's worth the extra money.

DSL. We've had both, and there is really no noticeable difference in speed or in how often we need tech support, but there certainly is in price!

Default cable or DSL

I'm considering switching to DSL, we have stable phone service so I'm hoping that is an indication of the service I will receive from DSL. I currently have Charter Cable, which is frequently out. This in extremely inconvenient from a personal and professional basis since if I don't have broadband, I have to go to the office (I am able to work from home). I'm basing a campaign in Hoover to drop the Charter group and find another provider

On my most recent 4 day Broadband outage, Charter allowed me a $6.83 credit, which is guess is fair on the $42.99 monthly bill for Broadband. But I feel I deserve several thousand for the 3.0 hours I spent on the phone talking with four 'technicians' and being forced to give the last four of my ssn, my account number was not acceptable, in order to receive the credit. In this case, it was due to a server being out, Charter knew when it went down, and they should have known when it was back in service.

I feel I should receive the credit for the time they knew the service was down without having to go through the Charter circle of Hades to get the credit.

As long as it's not dialup, I'd take cable or DSL. I actually do prefer cable though. I had DSL and I did experience some problems with it. Mostly phone related issues.

Its quality over quanity in this situation in my opinion.

IE: Ide rather pay the expense, to get the faster internet, it is 100% worth it in my honest opinion, I couldnt deal with DSL, Im jittery, I couldnt wait.

In my area there is only dsl. I'm happy with the service, it's always up. The speed leaves something to be desired though.

Thirty miles away (in the big city) my family all have the Road Runner/AOL package. They complain about it being down a lot. And the hold time for support is usually long.

So, if cable ever does make it out to my neck of the woods, I'll have to think hard about changing. I'm thinking a slower connection all the time is better that a faster one sometimes.
