I'm sitting on a dial-up connection now. I'm purchasing a laptop for casual use, and my desktop will be work related (nothing big, just web design stuff, server set ups).
I was thinking about getting DSL, or cable... Do any users here have any complaints of DSL versus cable, (I'm not looking into download speed, but more like cost vs. uptime, etc) I can get deal with cable that includes basic cable tv + cable internet, but would it be worth it? |

I've seen most people say that DSL is better, because phone lines rarely go out anymore...
I don't watch TV so I'd say go with DSL ![]() |

What service providers can you get? Do you also want cable tv? Are you willing to accept the fact that dsl may force you to get a phone line as well?
How did you do web design on a dail up? |

From what I've read, cable gives you a faster connection speed but DSL is quite a bit cheaper. So, it probably depends on your budget which one would be best for you. If you can afford the $40ish I'd say go with cable. If $20ish is more inline with your budget, go with DSL.

, I'd do it elsewhere (at the work PC), it's mainly a sideproject of mine...Anyway, I don't watch MUCH TV, but I figured I'd have the oppurtunity to, so I'm going with cable.... |

I would think either one would be such a huge improvement over dial-up that you're not going to feel let down no matter which one you get.
