Hi,
we are six (to 12 if all agree) apartments thinking of setting up a shared Broadband connection, as we do not all need the full speed and are willing to share costs. Have anyone done anything like this before, and how do you suggest us setting up the router/connections? |

I would suggest getting the highest package available. When you get a maximum speed, that's the max no matter how many people are on the network. So, the more you have on at once, the more the whole network is gonna lag.
As for setting it up, the lowest center apartment is where you will get the best wireless compatibility. However depending on how far some apartments are apart, you may still need a range extender or access point. Don't skimp on the hardware (routers and network cards), the cheapest hardware will most likely be the worst and least reliable!! Use trusted brands, like Linksys. Make sure (if you go wireless) that the network cards are compatible with the router (wireless-G, wireless-B, etc....). |
