Default DSL HSD - too many options

I live in a major market - I have options - I'm not a technology guru. Which is really really better? DSL or Cable?????

Default Cable VS. DSL

JTS-

There are many different things you should take into consideration when choosing a high-speed provider. I am assuming you live in a market that has cable service and DSL choices.

If you are strictly looking at price, DSL will be the way to go...remember you are most likely locked into a contract. If you are looking for speed both DSL and Cable have speed options - but it could get pricey. Cable typically does not have contracts though.

Hope that helps!

Default Dsl

I have had DSL for years and I like it because I get a static IP.

Default Cable Internet

I have lived on both coasts and have had terrific success with Cable. The one time I had DSL I had terrible problems -- always having to reset the modem.

Based on price alone DSL is the way to go. I used to have Yahoo SBC DSL, I believe we payed $25/mon, now we are up to Cable, paying around $60/mon. I don't know about you but I could always use an extra $35.

Default If it is cost savings....

If you are looking for cost savings I would agree with you that DSL offers decent speeds. However, cable is normally faster with no contracts.

As with anything it depends on how you are using your broadband connection. Someone that is a power seller on eBay and uploads a lot of pictures may find the speeds of cable are worth the extra $. If on the other hand you are using the Internet to check email and surf DSL will absolutely do the job.

DSL speeds depends on your relative position to a routing station, so that will affect your choices as well.
