I'm getting ready to move. If I move to a location where my current provider offers access can I just transfer it and be sure to keep my current rate? I'm afraid if rates vary by state I might end up having to pay more after I move for the same service I currently have.

Are you moving states, cities, or just across town? Each one will depend on tax rates and the amount of service provided in the area. DSL will be different more because of routing stations.

I'm moving to a different state. That was my concern. I believe the cost of living is higher in the state I'm moving to, so I was hoping if it's the same company I could transfer service and I could keep my same rate. Sort of like an existing customer instead of a new customer.

I doubt it. I don't think companies transfer contacts interstate, as chances are there will be someone different handling the different areas of operations.

I see your point. I guess I'll just have to face the fact that I may not be able to afford everything that I'm used to after I move. I might have to find other ways to budget than to try to get my new broadband company to give me the same prices my old company did. Although, I think national companies should have national rates and not vary it by area.

Wildfire, have you done a search in the State you are moving to for pricing?
I had a look around and think you may find that the pricing will be the same in most States that carry the same named service. |

Actually, no I didn't. I just assumed a lot. I have so much going right now getting ready for the move, that I'm just not being logical sometimes. I wish this move was overwith already. Thanks for pointing it out though, I'll have a look today and find out.

You may pay a dollar or two more or less depending on the taxes in the State you are moving to. Other than that the rates really should be the same.
