Default Can I see what my son is looking up?

Is there a way I can see what my son is looking up on the internet without putting him on parental controls?

thanks,
katie

You should just be able to go into his history and check out all the sites he's been to. Unless he's savvy enough to clear the history every time he uses the computer. We checked the history on my computer after my husband's nephew used it (a few years back when he was still a minor) and you would have been shocked at what that boy was looking at. I think he even got grounded from the home computer for awhile after that.

yes all you can do is to look in the history or cookies. or the Internet Temporary Files.

But if he does delete all the history, all the cookies and all the Internet Temporary Files. maybe there are softwares to control it. but there are software of you can see what files has been deleted.

Also there are software special for spying like: spectorsoft or others

good luck!

Cybersitter & NetNanny are two that I have heard of. Most of the people that I know, work with computers a good deal - so I am the odd ball always asking the questions. I would google those two and do some research to see (if any) what the prices are and how easy they are to use.

I'm not sure how relevant this is, but you would think that since sites (like google) can tell what sites you are on, then it should be possible to remotely access their history or spy on them during.

I know that RDP (remote desktop program), will end up kicking the kid out of their own session online. I am honestly not sure about the other 2, I would google them and see some reviews of people that have used NN and Cyber in the past.

Also, look into key loggers. That might be the way to go.

I think it's your own computer. So you can install a key-logger.It's a program that would keep a record of all the keys stroked on the computer ,including the chat sessions.Just be a little careful so your son doesn't get to know that his internet activities are under inspection .You know, it hurts a bit ,especially if he isn't doing anything that he shouldn't be doing. So,just be a little careful.
Oops I somehow missed the date on your post.

Well, date doesn't really matter if you've got something useful to add

My 4 year old is online and I have all sorts of plans for monitoring his activities!!
