I asked about securing my wireless internet connection. One of the most basic suggestions was to "put a password on my router config." So how do I do that? (Sorry I am so naive here. My husband actually works in IT, but he works with databases and mainframes, so somebody else handles this type of stuff, and he doesn't know how it is done, either.)

go to
192.168.1.1 and type in the default password (usually admin/admin) and depending one what kind of router you have, you go from there |

Thank you. But before I do this, I have to know, will this password only need to be used when the router is set up or recycled, or will it have to be used every time the computer is connected to the internet? Since one of the computers on our network is used mainly by my kids, I don't want to be forced to give them any of my "usual" passwords, so if they would need to use it, I will use something I don't mind them having.
