Default Upstairs with router downstairs

well i searched 'upstairs' because I figured this question would have been asked before but I didn't get anything so here I go.

I have 2 computers downstairs, I will be getting a laptop in the next couple of weeks, this i plan to use in my room upstairs. The two computers downstairs are sharing the connection, which is what i plan to do with the laptop. What I want to do is get a connection upstairs to the laptop, how would I go about doing this and can you give me a check list of things to buy?

I have SBC Yahoo dsl, and the crappy router that came with it.

Can anyone comment on the speed? I know that splitting a measly dsl connection up to 3 computers, which are going to be on at the same time quite a bit, is going to be pretty slow (I imagine). And a wireless connection would be even slower. So how slow are we looking at?

I know it's alot to ask, but ty.
I also realize that there are probably many different ways to go about doing this, but what is the cheapest and what is the best and how do you think the speeds will differ between the two.

I have four computers on a DSL connection and I do not see a problem with that. Sure if all are streaming multiple videos your connection will be overloaded.

As to a laptop, I use a wireless router, and my laptops are wireless connected, while my desktops have a direct connection.

Same here, all PC's are wired, all laptops are wireless (makes it easier for me alot when I am moving from one room to the other). We do have a wireless booster, Im not sure exactly how they work, but I imagine you could contact someone local to you and see if they have anything similar for you (CompUSA, etc.).
