Default Fighting VOIP over Satellite Skepticism

Hello again my name is David Bar and I am the US regional director for a company which provides and supports VOIP and Satellite VOIP. I believe that a company who stands behind and supports quality Satellite VOIP services should be allowed to be mentioned in an article (and should not be considered self promotion) due in part because of the large skepticism about Satellite VOIP. However, to secure our discussion, I will refrain from doing such. Any company who steps up to the plate with a viable product is in fact newsworthy, and could stimulate discussion.

So there it is- I have said my piece and we shall continue now to the discussion....

I work for a VOIP company which is the leading provider for VOIP and Satellite VOIP. With over 30 resellers across the country offering our services, convincing VSAT resellers that VOIP over Satellite works has been like pulling teeth. However, once they try the services, all doubts are erased. But where did this skepticism come from?

The big swingers in the VOIP industry have convinced Internet VSAT resellers that VOIP over Satellite does not and cannot work. Well I am here to tell you that it does work.

Big Swinger VOIP companies were created for Dedicated high speed internet. Their codecs are proprietary, and were created to function a certain way over a certain type of connection. They were not founded for proper functioning over satellite, nor did they have satellite in mind in their business plan. This is why they will not answer tech support inquiries to those using their services over Satellite.

The result is a series of Satellite resellers and consumers all trying a system over Satellite which was not specifically tailored to work accordingly. Ultimately, people start to think, if VOIP over Satellite does not work with X company, then VOIP over Satellite must be a myth - and this is the root of all Satellite VOIP skepticism.

Point blank, I advise all VSAT users and resellers to test VOIP over Satellite with a company which from its inception, was designed to work over Satellite.

In order for Satellite VOIP to work properly, the provider must have separate servers for dedicated VOIP and Satellite and Satellite VOIP. Proprietary Codecs must compress voice conversations into 16Kbps allowing our users browse the internet while simultaneously talking on the phone. Big Wave Maker Providers utilize 90Kbps of bandwidth to make a conversation . At 90 Kbps, a one minute conversation will utilize approximately 5400 Kb/min - putting a dent in the Fair Access policy all Satellite users have to deal with.

If we can all just imagine the size of the market for Satellite VOIP - the rural areas along with RV'ers can account for billions of dollars of future revenues. A rejuvenating of profits for the Satellite resellers. Installations, Activations, Hardware sales will all be stimulated by a removal of this skepticism. Satellite users are paining for a way to communicate cheaply and we are all turning them away - telling them it doesn't work - Why? because it doesn't work with company X. Lets start telling them a different story.
