Default Hughes MX Directory

I am new to Hughes and have tried resolving an MX issue with Hughes tech support. Five attempts-no success. No one there knows what an MX directory is.
I have an external domain that I renew every year. I do not pay for an email box on this external domain. Hughes has a fetch routine but this seems to require an external mailbox in order to work.
I simply want email going to my external domain to end up in my Hughes email box.
I have the name servers for hughes.net but this will get my external email forwarded only to the hughes.net server. From here, hughes needs to get the external mail to my hughes mailbox, which requires a hughes MX directory entry.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
Thanks.
