Default Speed test results

I just had a new hughesnet dish and 7000s modem installed with the proplus plan where I am suppose to get close to 1.5 speeds but when I did the speed test on hughenet's website I only get about 871 to 900. I called tech support and theu told me that was a good download speed. That isn't even close to 1.5. Does anyone else have the same package as I getting the same speed results?

H have the same @#$#@ problem. I just upgraded yesterday and the up and down speeds are worse than they were before I upgraded. Just spent another 2 hours on the phone with Hughes and they say I'm subject to the FAP. Bull!!!! The computers weren't on enough to download 350 megs. I think someone needs to organize a class action!!! Yes, I might be feeling a little hostile right now. Hummmmmm

Cool Yes they are working on that

Hughes plans to launch a new satellite in August and whenever the satellite comes online they are going to have the fastest connection they state. I personally sell these systems and wildblue systems and even though wildblue is cheaper, Hughes in a few months is going to blow the doors off of cable and dsl. It is advertised that it will be faster than both combined. Anyway, I try to stay up to date on what is going on because I try to be as honest with my customers as possible. And if you want to be contact me or google me on the web.

And yes, I do have the same package speed at home. Hughes HN7000S with proplus service. I usually hit about 1.3 mbps at any given time. One thing to look at is your signal strength and make sure that you have a good signal and make sure that it was aligned on the right satellite. There are about 16 satellites in orbit for Hughes/ Direcway. Also, during high network congestion, it will slow down momentarily for me but it usually hits at least 1.3 mbps.

Default HughesNet Upload and Download Speeds

I am a ProPlus subscriber and the Download Speed is supposed to be 1.5MBPS and the upload speed 200 KBPS. That is what I am paying for and locked into by contract for 15 months.

But the download speed is NEVER 1.5 MBPS and is usually about half that. The upload speed is usually worse -- between 10 and 30 -- nowhere near 200!

I have complained to HughesNet and they sent me a list of things to do and try, all of which I did [where possible] with no improvement. The E-mail they sent to me has broken links. one link they said I must access and do what it says does not work with Vista [how long has that product been on the market now?]

In my case, I have few options -- my home is in the country where there is no DSL or Cable available. So the only remaining option is dial-up. So I am stuck paying for far less than advertised and powerless to do anything about it.

If any visitor to this site has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

just got hughesnet
i exspected 1.5mb service 24/7 lucky to hit 150 kbs down
when i ordered the pro plan nothing was said about limeted downloading (fap) nothing was said about this during the instalation either.
tried to update some steam games over night and now i get to browse @ about 2-3kbs
dont mean to rant about this but i would have been better of with dial up

if hughes would get rid of the f a p, and the pakistani tech support it would be a decent service
until then it sucks

Ive had the service for over a year now. At my best, I get about 1.3 download speeds. Its incredibly incosistant though. At times, I get 10% of that. At other times, no connetion at all despite clear weather.

I'll believe "faster than cable" when I see it. But Hell, what does that kind of speed matter with the FAP? Ive never once actually exceed my limit, but have been shut down a few times. Now, Im afraid to even aproach it.
