Unhappy a few issues... hope your luck is better

Have had Time Warner Cable & Road Runner since 1999.
In the beginning it was great.. fast.. and worked.

Since then it has been more disappointing every year.
Service drops on the average about two or three times a week or more.

This is both T.V. and Road Runner. Some times only for a few seconds..
other times it was up to an hour.

I use internet to run my business. I provide Bussiness software support to customers in several locations in the U.S. So I am using internet most of the time.

As they have added additional features, channels, other services and more neighbors get service, the problems have increased.

When they added digital service a few years ago, that is when the problems
seemed to increase. Then when they were getting ready to offer phone
service, it was several times a day of disconnects (R.R) for a few seconds
or so. This went on for several months.

Recently had a digital box for T.V. go bad, would not record. The hard drive
in digital T.V. box was bad. So I called and had a service tech came to replaced it with another box. Well... the replacement box had the same problem as the one they replaced. Obviously they do not check equipment before taking it out to install. Ending up requesting two of the newer digital
T.V. boxes. Had to visit the local office to pick up one. Other was sent to me via UPS. Good news, they are working fine. They also respond a lot faster than the older box. Some times if would be 2 - 3 seconds aftering changing a channel that it would actually change. On the newer boxes it responds right away, however with the newer boxes, the hard drive can be heard.
It's ok if you don't mind a little humming all the time.....

Also had the modem for R.R. updated, (provided by T.W.) this has seemed to help a little. Also the line from house to service box updated.

Not sure if most of these problems are just local issues.

This morning it was down again, ( ALL of it ) had to call in problem.
Good thing I don't have phone service from T.W. would have had to
use a cell phone or go out and find a working phone to call in problem.
When I called, it had been down for 30 minutes. No one had reported
the problem. Good news, it was back up about one hour after my call.
This was from 5:30 am to 7:00 am.

When DSL is available in my area, will seriously consider it.
Not available as I am 2 miles from phone companies location.
This why and what I've been told why DSL is not available to me.

Could provide many more details of problems. However this just a very small sample of the many issues.

Considered updating to R.R. Business class. After dicussing the problems with them, it was determined that upgrading type of service would not resolve the disconnects and T.V. issues.

Hope your T.W. & R.R. experience is NOT like mine.......

Default Maybe worse at times

I searched and joined this forum to hopefully get some answers as to why the TW service is so poor/unreliable.

Some days its fast although, never as advertised, other days it's slower than dialup to non-existant.

It was sold to me with the understanding it is a fiber optics. Only later I find that it is a microwave link which fails the whole town due to rain or fog. Been told by a TW service rep there's no plans to improve it.

The problem I have is there's not much choice. All ISPs have some issues. If I ran a business like most ISPs do I'd be in jail. Surprised that the attourney general is not swamped with complaints.

I'll be hanging around looking for answers as long as the service allows me to connect.

Default TW service down again

Time Warner was down again this morning and came back up after 30 mins of being non-exsitant.

Tried many attempts to reset the cable modem, as this seems to fix the problem sometimes. Why is this??? Why should anything change that the end user is unaware of? Why should we have this issue?

Yesterday I called the "24 hour" cutomer service number and received an answering service. Is this what TW defines 24 hour service???

Today I called and got hung up on. WTF? I would fire any employee that acted this way.

Still no answers...
