I do here myself. I have no issues with it. We have 10/1 net connection here and it works fine and dandy. Never had an issue that was V's fault only the power going out, and I got a cell for that.

I looked into Vonage because it really sounded advantageous. But after checking, it wasn't going to save me much on my monthly bill. Except for the long distance calls I would have been making with it.

Because I live in a rural area, our power is likely to go out during winter storms. We have problems with ice on the overhead power lines during the ice storms we get every few years. Since we might be without electricity for 2 - 3 days, I didn't like the idea of being without a phone during that time too.

I have vonage on a cable internet connection. I've had them for well over a year now and I will never ever look back.

It's just important for people to remember when looking in to voip, your phone connection is only as good as your internet connection when you go there. If you are likely to lose your power or internet regularly, don't use a phone service that is dependent on them.

But really, a few months ago our finances got REALLY tight I called vonage to beg them to either 1. let me pay em double the next month or 2. cancel my account. I couldn't pay.

You know what they did? They gave me a month free. Guy just said, "you've been with us for a while now, always paid your bill, just consider this month on us".

You will never, EVER get that from a traditional phone company. lol

I actually use my long distance every day, calling my son that resides in another state. If I did not have VOIP, I would really not want to see that phone bill.

I still am not exactly sure what Vonage is. But it's like some sort of internet based phone service right?

Either way, I don't talk enough to make any savings worth it.

A friend of mine uses Vonage, and she seems really happy with it. There's a pretty good chance i'll get it eventually myself.
